SAFETY OFFICER INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

1) What do you consider your greatest accomplishments in your current or previous position?
2) A Public Safety Officer is on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or may be called back to work during staff shortages or inclement weather.  Are you able to meet the scheduling requirements?
3) Can you perform the essential duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodation?
4) Give me an example of a time when you had to make a split second decision.  What did you do?  What was the outcome?
5) What steps do take to ensure safety in the performance of your job?
6) Tell me about a time when you enforced a rule to ensure the safety of others.  What did you do?  What was the outcome?
7) Tell me about a time when the approach you used in investigating an incident really paid off well.  What did you do and what was the result?
8) Describe a situation in which you had to quickly and objectively determine an appropriate course of action.  What happened as a result of your actions? 
9) Describe one of the most difficult complaints or incidents you ever had to investigate? How did approach the situation?  What was the outcome?  
10) Describe a time when you anticipated potential problems and developed preventive measures.  What was the result of your actions?
11) Tell me about a situation when you had to bend policy to achieve a goal.  What did you do?  What was the outcome? 
12) Describe a situation when you were insulted and became angry.  How did you handle your anger?  What was the result?
13) Tell me about a time when you had to approach an individual who became confrontational and resisted your authority.  How did you handle the situation?
